Rumours are beginning to circle that former Queensland and Australian representative, Will Chambers, is eyeing a return to the NRL.
Underestimated this bloke.
He wouldn't be the most loved bloke in NSW I'd suggest, but Chambers' resume is a fairly impressive one.
7 tests for Australia, 13 matches for Queensland & 2 premierships across 218 matches with the Melbourne Storm.
He even had a stint at the Queensland Reds!
If Craig Bellamy has backed you for that long, 218 games that is, then you must be doing something right.
Remember too, I reckon it's more than reasonable to suggest that if the Storm defeat Cronulla in the 2016 grand final, Chambers is just about winning the Clive Churchill Medal.
So where does this bloke end up? Which teams needs someone that boasts that sort of experience?
I think it's pretty clear that's he's best playing right centre.
North Queensland perhaps? The Warriors?
Having gone to school in Brisbane, perhaps the Broncos loom as a preferred destination for Chambers. But you'd think with Kotoni Staggs owning that right side of the Broncos attack, Chambers would be relegated to the left.
Chambers' move to Japanese Rugby has been interrupted, like most things this year, by COVID-19.
Is there room for him back in Melbourne? You'd think not.
So I am not going to answer any of these questions, not just yet anyways, but suffice to say that while he might not be at the peak of his powers, Will Chambers back in rugby league is going to be a very valuable asset for one of these clubs should it happen.
Tell us what you think, has he got a good couple of years left in him?
