Well our best bet and multi landed but I'm tied for last in the tipping comp

Round 1 of the NRL is done.

4 from 8 on the tips.

Where did I go wrong? Let's have a look.

I thought the Bulldogs might show something against a Kalyn Ponga-less Newcastle Knights outfit.

They weren't awful and in fact led early, but some indifferent efforts in defense ultimately cost them.

Knights had 55% possession and the Dogs had 11 more missed tackles and 21 ineffective tackles.

The Broncos, ahhh the Broncos.

16-0 at halftime and seemingly in control but then they did it again. Of course they did, perhaps injuries and some questionable referring decisions might have contributed to their downfall.

So there's two teams that led and lost and after the Friday night games I am 1 from 3.

Ouch.

Then the Titans were terrible, really not good.

Actually the stats from that game suggest it was a pretty even tussle, but just too many handling errors from the Gold Coast.

They lost that stat to the Warriors 15-6.

Yes, that's right 15 errors - you can't win games doing that.

The other two games weren't really that interesting, Roosters and Panthers won easy - I tipped them.

3 from 6 going into Sunday.

The Raiders did it well against the Tigers, that one was easy.

The last one was the Dragons & Sharks.

I'm pretty convinced the Sharks are no good this year, I think that's still the case but perhaps the Dragons are just really shit.

With 20 minutes to go they had a try disallowed which would have put them in front - that hurt.

After that, it was all Cronulla - they went on for a fairly easy 32-18 win.

So 4 from 8 in the tips and Round 2 looks as though it might throw up a couple of tough ones.

Not a good start.

The positive?

Our best bet, which was Penrith 13+ & our multi of the Panthers, Roosters & Raiders both saluted, so we made a bit of cash.
