Fucken COVID is wreaking havoc with my social life and my golf.
Anyways, there's people worse off I am sure.
Being in lockdown does present us with a night at home on the couch, so why not back a few winners and build a bank for tomorrow's racing.
3 bets tonight, backing all of these heavier on the place than I am the win. i.e. $10 win, $20-$30 the place.
Cranbourne Race 7 - Miss Five Hundred - $3.70
3000m race @ Cranbourne - this might take a while, pop the kettle on and get comfy.
Jye McNeil rides Miss Five Hundred from an inside draw, I think it'll get the trip okay and be winning this race. Typically I like her on a big track like Sandown but the 3000m should negate that a little bit, hopefully McNeil puts her to sleep, preferably just off the rail and she presents on the home turn with one almighty run. There's a fair few slow horses in this race, keen on this girl.
Sunshine Coast Race 2 - Marleedoone - $6
Betting around the short priced favourite. Marleedoone was pretty good on debut and then trialled up well at Doomben just before Christmas.
Should get a nice spot from barrier 5, don't want it getting too far back - that is my only concern. The danger is the Happisburg I think, but happy to be on Marleedoone each way after the impressive trial.
Canterbury Race 7 - All But Gone - $20
Disclaimers all round for this horse.
Normally backmarkers @ Canterbury is a bad recipe. But thinking on a rain effected track, they might get out to the middle and find the better ground which will make it a bit easier for horses to run on. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
So here's how the race will pan out, All But Gone will be dead last in the run, if he's anything but, I'll be surprised, then he'll look like he's going nowhere around the 400m mark and then hopefully in the last 100m he's absolutely fucking flying down the outside and gets up and wins.
That may or may not happen, either way happy to find out @ $20.
If you're in lockdown, enjoy.
Good luck, good punting & gamble responsibly.
