The old 20-leg tennis multi that misses by just 1

It happens every year.

So much so, I've now given up.

There's 60 odd singles matches on Day 1 of the Australian Open, there'd be a lot of people out there not even knowing who J Vesely or D Lajovic even are and yet their firmly in the hail mary multi bet for the day.

Crowd favourite - tongue in cheek of course - Novak Djokovic plays tonight against world number 66, Jeremy Chardy from France.

Novak is $1.004 to win.

Yes, that's right, have $100 on and you could win 40 cents!

Jeremy Chardy is $17. Maybe not a bad bet?

Novak could roll an ankle, or perhaps he could throw another dummy spit and get defaulted for injuring the linesperson - anything could happen!

The afternoon matches might hold some interest, Only Fans celebrity Bernard Tomic plays today and so too does everybody's favourite, Nick Kyrgios.

Krygios has that pesky knee injury he's dealing with but will play tonight against world number 184 from Portugal, Frederico Ferreira Silva - or FFS to his mates.

Krygios is $1.12 - you'd be a brave man taking that given the injury.

On the women's side, most of the interest, locally at least is of course surrounding Aussie Ash Barty.

The Barty Party.

Ash plays her first round match tomorrow night, while Serena Williams is out there this morning, @ $1.10 she might actually be some value in her first round match relative to the others!

Who wins it all you ask?

On the Men's side, sadly it is all about Novak. I'm normally a big Roger fan but he's not here this year.

For the women, going with the fairytale for Australia - Ash Barty.

That means I've tipped the #1 seed in both the Men's & Women's draw - how extravagant of me!
