The Mock's Saturday Shakedown - 10/4/21

We are back to shake down this weekend’s massive cards after a relatively negative outing last week as it was a fairly unpredictable day of racing, but no excuses, we will bounce back!

Best Bet at Randwick

Race 3 – Art Cadeau - $2.70 Win

The country championships final takes place after months of qualifying races build to this huge final for these country horses. Personally, I think the favourite was born to win this one. Art Cadeau is just a class horse that I’ve been following since his incredible 5 straight second-place streak. He’s found wins since and I even backed him in to win a couple of months ago in the futures market. So, I think Tommy Berry is in for another huge win here as I back him in for the win on Art Cadeau.

Best Bet at Caulfield

Race 1 – Cheerful Legend - $2.70 Win

This Sadler trained youngster Has had a lot of bad luck lately with 4th placings galore. Some have been as a result of bad rides from the jockeys, others have been from too long of a race in my opinion. However, all the Legend horses seem to have one thing in common, they can go fast. Cheerful Legend is no different and at the much more suited 1200 Metres, I think he can go all the way here and win it.

Best Each Way Bet

Randwick Race 1 – King of Sparta - $8.50 Win/$2.50 Place

I’m leaning towards King of Sparta here. He’s a smart young colt that just missed out on a Golden Slipper start after he was left searching for a little more ground in the Silver Slipper. That’s ground that he gets here, plus he was behind Billiondollarbaby in a recent trial who debuted this week at Canterbury for a win so that’s a big tick in form. I hope that from the first barrier, Tommy Berry grabs the behind of leader Vandoulla Lass and rides it all the way to a win. $8 to win and $2.60 to place is an outstanding each-way play to start the day.

The Mock’s Roughie Alert

Randwick Race 7 – Toscanini - $41 Win/$9.50 Place

Toscanini is one of our favourite horses to back as of late because he just always runs honestly. Rarely puts a foot wrong and has fought his way into a huge race like the Australian Derby. While many people are counting him out, Jamie Kah going onboard has me so excited for this one. I’d be putting a couple of dollars on this one to cause a bit of havoc.

The Mock’s Multi Madness

Best Bet Multi - $7.29

Combine Art Cadeau and Cheerful Legend into a multi and if they both win, you’ll collect a lovely $7.29 odd multi.

Around The Grounds Multi - $6.76

We go around the grounds once more, remember to take these as single win bets and combine them all into this place multi that pays an even $6.76. Of course, Art Cadeau and Cheerful Legend take up our NSW and VIC slots. We head to South Australia at Morphettville and in the third race, we hope that Highly Discreet provides the goods. In QLD, at Doomben, I reckon Cloak is the best and will win for us, if not place. Finally, at Ascot in WA, Ain’t No Other Man seems to be a real good chance to take it and as a result, we will back him in.

Just For Fun Multi - $261

For this one, we will see if we can tip the biggest 3 at Randwick this week, if it gets up, you owe us a beer. In the Aussie Derby at let’s cheer home Sky Lab and we’ll roll that into the TJ Smith with Eduardo. After that, hopefully, Cascadian gets the choccies in the Doncaster and we will be cheering.

Well, punters, that’s the Saturday Shakedown for the week, good luck to all of you out there and we hope that by Saturday night we have funded a few of your beers. Remember, however, to know your limits and ALWAYS gamble responsibly.
