Gee it's been hard to find a winner lately! But we are back and so is the country tracks as NSW's biggest Saturday meet goes to Gosford. Hopefully this week we get a few more winners.
Best Bet at Gosford
Race 6 - Easy Eddie - $3 Win
Has he been out of form lately? Yes. Has he won a race in the last 2 years? No. But hear me out. He's proven time and time again that he's got a huge engine and he's always been a fighter, rarely finishing further than 3 lengths off the winner despite commonly being 6th of 7th. The reason he hasn't been winning is his owners for some reason have been chasing Group level races, a level that he just isn't at. But a massive drop back into a much more suitable class here has me confident that he can get the monkey off the back.
Best Bet at Caulfield
Race 7 - Horrifying - $2.35 Win
Big fan of the way this young gelding goes about it. Similar to my Gosford pick, his stats don't read too well but if you dig deeper you'll see that most of his races have finished in a huge pack and he's been amongst it. For instance, he finished 5th a few starts back and he was only a length off the win. So with a potentially big Winter carnival ahead of him, he'll want to get a second career win here to kick him off and I'll back him in to do so.
Best Each Way Bet
If you have listened to the TMRC Podcast, which I am sure you have, you'll know that I am a big All Saints Eve man. Excellently placed in this one I believe and she loves to get the wet track, which she gets here. Drawing the rails won't hurt either and since she's only been a couple of lengths off Probabeel in the past, she has more than enough to get it done against this lot.
The Mock's Roughie Alert
Struggling to see why this bloke is at this sort of price. While yes, he did nothing impressive in his last start and has been out of sorts in general recently, but he's shown before that he has the motor to smoke them here. I think he's been placed perfectly in a race where he can get some confidence back heading into the Winter. I would have placed him at around the $10 mark, so I'll happily take the $4 discrepancy on Mr Wong.
The Mock’s Multi Madness
Best Bet Multi - $7.35
Combine Easy Eddie and Horrifying into a multi and if they both win, you’ll collect a lovely $7.35 odd multi.
Around The Grounds Multi - $6.81
We go around the grounds once more, remember to take these as single win bets and combine them all into this place multi that pays an even $6.81. Of course, Easy Eddie and Horrifying take up our NSW and VIC slots. We head to South Australia at Morphettville and in the last, we hope that Soul Obsession provides the goods. In QLD, at the Gold Coast track, I reckon Racecourse Road is the best and will win for us, if not place. Finally, at Ascot in WA, Drinkwhatyoulike seems to be a real good chance to take it and as a result, we will back him in.
Just For Fun Multi - $44
For this one, we are going to try and pick the two biggest at Gosford this week in the form of The Gosford Cup and The Coast. We hope that The Lord Mayor has the goods in the Cup before we look to All Saints Eve to win it in the Coast.
Well, punters, that’s the Saturday Shakedown for the week, good luck to all of you out there and we hope that by Saturday night we have funded a few of your beers. Remember, however, to know your limits and ALWAYS gamble responsibly.
