The Mock Racing Club’s Saturday Shakedown 6/02/2021

We are back to shake down this weekend’s cards after a relatively successful outing last week as we were able to jag a couple of winners at great odds last week with Defibrillate getting it done, as well as a couple of our Around The Grounds picks getting up. Hopefully, we can continue this form into this week’s meets, let’s get stuck into it!

Best Bet at Randwick

Race 2 – Another One - $2.50 Win

Moderate tempo with most of the field rolling forward with horses such as Another One, Mnementh, Joeys Chance and Katgully Red among the main chances to win it. Personally, I prefer the favourite Another One. Favourite for a reason, he’s a serious Country Championships contender with his great speed that he is able to maintain throughout the whole race. Not only does he like running fresh, he gets the blinkers on as well, nothing but positives for me so I’ll take Another One.

Best Bet at Caulfield

Race 7 – Probabeel - $4.20 Win

Everyone’s favourite mare returns after a respectable 7th placing in the Cox Plate, and I believe she has it in her to win first up here. While she goes up against the in form Snapdancer, Probabeel’s late speed could prove too much for the rest of the field. While her recent trial wasn’t excellent, I believe that if she can win one of the best Epsom fields in years while three wide with no cover, she can win again here. With Play UP giving us a generous $4.20, why wouldn’t you be backing Probabeel.

Best Each Way Bet

Caulfield Race 4 – Young Werther - $8 Win/$2.35 Place

The big bad skittled VRC Derby favourite is back and I think he can actually resume a winner for Danny O’Brien. While he played second fiddle to Johnny Get Angry on Derby day, Young Werther will be hungry for a win before he launches into a big Autumn Carnival. I expect him to hang just off the back before Damo Oliver kicks him into gear in the final 300 Metres. Fingers crossed that he doesn’t get skittled like the Derby.

The Mock’s Roughie Alert

Randwick Race 5 – Hi Hi Hi - $17/$3.50

Hi Hi Hi is a real tricky sort. She won big odds when debuting at Canterbury and she absolutely spanked them. This is of course, a much better class, considering that she has to try and beat Profiteer. She gets a wide draw here, but if she hits the front with the same sort of speed as her debut, then I can’t see why she isn’t an upset chance.

The Mock’s Multi Madness

Best Bet Multi - $10.50

Combine Another One and Probabeel into a multi and if they both win; you’ll collect a lovely $10.50 odd multi.

Around The Grounds Multi - $4.52

We go around the grounds once more, remember to take these as single win bets and combine them all into this place multi that pays $4.50. Of course, Another One and Probabeel take up our NSW and VIC slots. We head to South Australia at Morphettville and in the fifth race we hope that Ritratto provides the goods. In QLD, at the Eagle Farm track, I reckon Wolff Boss is the best and will win for us, if not place. Finally, in the last at Pinjarra in WA, Last of The Line seems to be a real good chance to take it and as a result, we will back him in.

Just For Fun Multi - $68.04

For this one, we will see if some of the returning stars can get it done in their respective races. If Probabeel, Sir Dragonet and How Womantic all cross the line in first place, you will take away a huge amount of profit. Fingers crossed aye.

Well punters, that’s the Saturday Shakedown for the week, good luck to all of you out there and we hope that by Saturday night we have funded a few of your beers. Remember, however, to know your limits and ALWAYS gamble responsibly.
