We are back to shake down this weekend’s cards and try and find some winners. Some top-notch races have been lined up for a ripper Easter Saturday and we are ready to get stuck in!
Best Bet at Rosehill
Race 4 – Krone - $2.90
We were able to tip this gun of a horse a few weeks ago when she won at huge odds in the Coolmore Classic. She is at the peak of her career and has proven herself to have an absolute electric turn of foot on all decks as well so if the track does end up rock hard, it shouldn’t be an issue. A win here will make it 4 wins on the trot and I believe she could beat this lot by a couple of lengths at least.
Best Bet at Caulfield
Race 4 – Black Penn - $4
5 starts so far for this young gelding and he’s proven himself to be pretty smart as he has yet to miss the top 3. However, his one win was a spanking at Pakenham where he trotted in almost 4 lengths ahead of the competition. He then went to the Mornington Guineas where he finished a close third to the much more talented horses in the form of Let’s Karaka Deal and Dom To Shoot. If he is able to repeat these two efforts, he just wins.
Best Each Way Bet
One of my personal favourites in the form of Octane returns from a spell here after a horror show on Derby Day, however, it can be forgiven due to the fact that he was at the end of a very long prep. He can sprint with the best of them and his latest jump outs suggest that he’s ready to go. No Jamie Kah will hurt him, but I still think Octane can get the best of this field.
The Mock’s Roughie Alert
Ahh So Si Bon. The old trickster. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Except for the fact that old So Si is coming off one of the rare times where he was in fact the bride in a cracking effort at Flemington. So, we’ll back him in here, let’s hope that the cult favourite can do the unthinkable and win two straight.
The Mock’s Multi Madness
Best Bet Multi - $11.60
Combine Krone and Black Penn into a multi and if they both win; you’ll collect a lovely $11.60 odd multi.
Around The Grounds Multi - $4.43
We go around the grounds once more, remember to take these as single win bets and combine them all into this place multi that pays $4.43. Of course, Krone and Black Penn take up our NSW and VIC slots. We head to SA and trust me, I am no steeplechase expert but I’ll take a punt on Eperdument brings the goods. In QLD, at Eagle Farm, I think Wren’s Day will win for us, if not place. Finally, at Ascot, in WA, Pletto seems too good for this lot and as a result, we will back him in.
Just For Fun Multi - $41.25
For a bit of fun and a spare fiver, we will try and back the winners from the two biggest races on Saturday, the Vinery Stud and the Tancred Stakes. We will take a chance on Hungry Heart in the Vinery, before turning that into Kiwi champion Melody Belle in the Tancred Stakes. If it gets up, we’ll be cheering.
Well punters, that’s the Saturday Shakedown for the week, good luck to all of you out there and we hope that by Saturday night we have funded a few of your beers. Remember, however, to know your limits and ALWAYS gamble responsibly.
