Let’s kick the Winter racing season off with an absolute clean out of the bookie’s pockets. After tipping a couple of winners last week we are keen to get into it!
Best Bet at Hawkesbury
Race 7 - Ellsberg - $2 Win
Ellsberg has constantly been kind to us, so I am going to stick true to him. I expect him to hit the front and never look back. Should be a nice money doubler if he gets up. If the price goes below $2, I’ll probably be on Rainbow Connection each way.
Best Bet at Sandown
Race 3 - Cordilla - $2.20
You would think that Cordilla has the measure of this lot right? Won its last start nicely at Caulfield and I expect an even better showing here. Yes, the form has been patchy, but we've seen that when it kicks into high gear, it can match the best of them, so I could see a dominant win for her here.
Best Each Way Bet
Surooj is a horse that I think is really well suited in this one. 2 out of her 3 runs so far this prep was narrow placings after valliant lunges at the line late. Both were a couple of hundred metres short of this one, which shows to me that 1400 would be ideal for her. Timmy Clark on board is a big tick as well, plus the drop in weight here, I think $14 to win and $4.20 to place is a great each-way play for the race so I’ll be on Surooj.
The Mock's Roughie Alert
I'm going to go real Rough here. $27 for Wayupinthesky is an outstanding price to get here. Loves 1100 metres as her 2 career wins were at this distance. Been running really well as of late, especially an impressive 6th in the Birthday Card Stakes So with Sam Clipperton on board and the drop back in class, I think an each-way play on Wayupinthesky wouldn’t go a miss, $27 to win and $7 to place is ideal here, worth a fiver each way.
The Mock's Multi Madness
Best Bet Multi - $4.40
Combine both of our best bets in the form of Ellsberg and Cordilla and if they both win; you’ll get $4.40 on Play Up.
Around The Grounds Multi - $3.36
We go around the grounds once more, remember to take these as single win bets and combine them all into this place multi that pays $3.36. Of course, Ellsberg and Cordilla take up our NSW and VIC slots. We head to South Australia at Morphettville and in the fourth race, we hope that Silent Sovereign provides the goods. In QLD, on Eagle Farm, I believe Cloak is the best of the day and will win for us, if not place. Finally, at Ascot in WA, Watch Me Dance seems to be the best bet here and hopefully, it secures us the multi-win.
Just For Fun Multi - $70
Worth a spare fiver this one for sure. We're going to start with the Gold Rush race at Hawkesbury with our roughie Wayupinthesky to place. We roll that into Ellsberg in the Guineas and then Greysful Glamour in the Hawkesbury Cup. If it gets up, you owe us a beer.
Well, punters, that’s the Saturday Shakedown for the week, good luck to all of you out there and we hope that by Saturday night we have funded a few of your beers. Remember, however, to know your limits and ALWAYS gamble responsibly.
