How did this happen!?
$301 shot wins the Group 1 Australian Guineas.
Good luck to the owners and all the punters that had a win but fark me.
I repeat, you could have got $301 about Lunar Fox winning the Australian Guineas @ Flemington on the weekend.
Probably more if you powerplay'd it!
Jockey Michael Dee was told to keep Lunar Fox off the rail in the run.
Well he did that - it was a sensational ride.
But let's look at this blokes form prior to Saturday's win.
The start prior, against most of the same opposition in the race that Tagaloa won, Lunar Fox was beaten 13.2 lengths, beating only 2 other runners home.
Prior to a spell, he was beaten 13.45 lengths by Cherry Tortoni - yes that horse in the red that flashed home for second on the weekend.
Perhaps the best of his form might have been 3.55 lengths 5th to Ole Kirk in the Caulfield Guineas in the spring.
On that form, the $301 is overs, but seriously, if you watched his first up run, you weren't overly enthused.
Prince of Penzance won the Cup @ $100-1, Lasqueti Spirit won the Oaks after a daring ride from Brenton Avdulla, she was also around that $100-1 mark and there's another one that did it around the same odds @ Flemington in orange colours - I'm forgetting the name.
Can anyone help!?
There's been some big upsets in Group 1 races @ Flemington - Lunar Fox added to that growing number.
