I mean, passionate QLD supporter right here.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to think we can do what Fatty Vautin's side did in 1995 and upset the much more fancied Blues, but jeez it looks a long shot doesn't it?
The halves pairing and engine room I am okay with, but fuck me, how's our backline?
Young! Obviously we've got origin stalwart Dane Gagai there, but other than that, there's a fullback, a centre and two wingers on debut!
Not saying they don't deserve to be there, nor do I think there's many better options than what we're running with but crikey, Wayne Bennett is going to need to wave his magic wand to get them winning this you'd think.
26,500 people will sell out Adelaide Oval, that will actually make for quite an atmosphere!
The Blues look strong don't they.
Their spine is excellent, Tedesco, Keary, Cleary and Cook.
Their centre pairing polled 1 & 2 in the Dally M this year, and their pack has plenty of go forward.
Combine that with a very mobile bench and the brilliance of Cody Walker, it's easy to see why the Blues have come up $1.31. Hate to say it, but arguably they should be shorter.
Who's going to stand up for QLD and make it happen?
As I said, the halves pairing in Cameron Munster and skipper Daly Cherry-Evans hold the key here. If the pack can go forward and match it with the Blues, it'll be up to Munster and Cherry-Evans to release this young backline and execute on our opportunities.
Excited to see Tino Faasuamaleaui make his debut, whilst Jake Friend has waited long enough and now gets his chance.
What can we expect from the Blues? They'll probably try and wear out our halves defensively and no doubt there will be a couple of high balls to the inexperienced back 3. QLD will have to win the wrestle to prevent Damien Cook from getting out from dummy half like he's done over the past few years.
It's a bit shit this year, there's not too many in the Blues team that us QLD'ers can actually really hate on. Can Freddy bring back Blake Ferguson?
So who wins?
I'll give you two tips here, you can do with them what you like.
The heart is telling me that QLD win, Brett Dallas comes on in the last 5 minutes and scores the match winning try. With the Blues short in the market, you can get the Maroons @ $3.45.
The head is telling me that this young QLD side will be better for the experience but ultimately will be outclassed by the Blues.
Oh, and has anyone got a market on Phil Gould being biased in the commentary?
It's a different feel this year, but no doubt both sides will be ready to go.
Just so I am not copping death threats from my own family, QLD by 4.
