Sir Shane Warne?

Remember the 5 wisden cricketers of the 20th century?

Sir Donald Bradman

Sir Garfield Sobers

Sir Jack Hobbs

Sir Vivian Richards

AND

Shane Warne.

So when's this going to happen?

Has S K Warne done enough to deserve a knighthood? Surely.

Maybe some of his extra curricular activities have prevented the King of Spin from visiting the Queen.

It's a bit like how Warne didn't ever get Australian captaincy, for an extended period at least, there's no doubt he has the sharpest cricketing mind around, but presumably the off-field indiscretions prevented it from ever happening.

Because if it was purely on the stats, then Warney obviously deserves the recognition.

Clearly it is not.

708 test wickets - you kidding me?

A further 293 wickets in One Day International cricket.

Not to mention his philanthropy as well, with his work through the Shane Warne Foundation, albeit it closed in 2017 but the controversy surrounding it from everything I've read seems rather misplaced.

But regardless, Warne has been involved plenty of other charitable work.

And perhaps his greatest achievement, the guy dated Liz Hurley! Unbelievable.

That alone could even be enough!

And how does Paul Collingwood receive an MBE if Warne isn't deserving of anything? That don't make no sense to me.

Collingwood averaged 40 in test cricket from 68 matches and 35 in ODI's from just shy of 200 appearances.

Not a bad record - but nothing close to what Warne did.

Surely we'll be saying Sir Shane Warne before too long - SURELY.
