Righto, our best bet got up last week and then like most other punters around Australia, it was f#cken slim pickings.
Thankfully, there's some good racing to get into this week, let's get into it.
Jeez I love the Valley.
Decent enough card of racing and a couple of nice bets.
In Race 2, I'll be backing Brazen Boy which was scratched at the barrier a fortnight ago. This thing has trialled like Phar Lap, barrier 4 and Jamie Kah - it ticks a lot of boxes! $2.70, doubt it will last.
I'm then going to be patient and wait, until Race 8, when Jamie Kah again hops on Prezado. Now this horse is a Flemington specialist but there just seems to be so much pace in this race that I can't help but think the field will string out and Prezado will get it's chance to get off the fence and rattle home strong. J Kah is riding unbelievably well at the moment, really keen on this bloke around $4.80.
Fair dinkum, they're making it hard for us in Brisbane this week!
I started typing something to give Kubrick a good chance this week, then I realised the bloke hasn't won for about 26 years. Barrier 1 will give him a great chance to salute this week, if he bought his best form, he'd win by about 10L.
Anyways, I digress.
Three bets in Brisbane, starting in Race 6. Populist, we were with it second up and it ran well at good odds, think Cormack will just sit in behind the speed here and give it every chance to finish off. $5.50 or thereabouts is a nice price!
Best of the day across Austraila is in the 7th @ Doomben, you can read about that here.
The other one in Brisbane that I like is our old mate Red Chase. I've decided that this horse likes racing on the rail, probably like most of them. Hoping he jumps away cleanly and might get on the back of Emerald Kingdom in the run if Soxagon goes forward and sits outside the leader. Maybe, hopefully!? Either way, Red Chase each way around the $6.50 is a good bet, he's been fairly good to us!
First bet of the day in Sydney comes up in Race 4. The Victorian visitor, Write Your Name. It's form around Titan Blinders reads well, it draws a good barrier and gets K McEvoy on. Comes up $8...? Hmmm, seems like I am falling into a trap here, first time Sydney way of going might be the thing and this horse does have a few tricks but I'll be backing it at good each way odds! Like it.
Race 6 in Sydney, I am compelled to back Black on Gold. I watched it win at huge odds first, thinking it would run home well but couldn't win, how wrong I was. Black on Gold and I have a love / hate relationship. So tread with caution, his second up record sucks, but B Avdulla and a firm track might be the right recipe. Happy to find, with caution, at around $10.
That's it for Sydney, if Black on Gold wins I'll be nude.
Had a quick look at Adelaide, just like every other week, don't mind Charossa in Race 2 and if I don't have something on Debt Collector in the 7th on the day and it wins, I'll cry, so a bit on him as well.
And surely, surely to goodness, Trekking wins in Perth, give him strength!
Good luck, good punting & gamble responsibly.
