More seconds last week then a fat man.
Our best bet Niccanova ran home fairly but never looked likely so we go back and get stuck into a shitload of form and find the winners for this week.
The carnival is over, racing gets away from metro tracks in VIC, NSW & QLD but nonetheless, there's some cracking racing.
Racing in Melbourne heads to Ballarat for Cup Day. They've bought together some big and wonderful fields and I like a couple.
All the form here is pretty much via the Flemington carnival, we get started in Race 3 and the favourite, Shelby Cobra. Thought it was fairly impressive winning at headquarters and gets here in a pretty weak race to my eye. Weary of the second favourite, Reciprocation but with even luck, think Shelby Cobra is too good for these, $1.85 seems about right, could be a really nice horse in the making.
Righto who backed Right You Are at Flemington? Everyone!
Race 7, I'll be backing him again and he's had a jockey change. Drawn to get a beautiful run, second up over 1600m, should be the perfect recipe for this bloke. I'd be very surprised if he's not winning on Saturday @ around $2.70.
Last bet @ Ballarat is in the last. The grey which was unlucky on Cup Day, Star Missile. Just missed first up and I don't mind it drawn wide here. Another one for Zahra, in fact all our bets in Melbourne are being ridden by M Zahra, let's hope he's on his game!
Best bet of the day comes up in Race 2 at the Sunshine Coast, you can read more about that here.
Race 4 looks wide open, I am going to have a little each way play on something that is third up and will appreciate the big Sunshine Coast track, in facts he's 1 from 1 here. That's Tisani Magic @ around $26. Third up here, if you take out his career runs, first and second up, he's got a very impressive record and he gets here 3rd up from a spell.
Barrier 4 and Matt Mcgillivray on board, it's not the worst at a big price and I'll be having a nice little play each way.
Righto, I just can't let this bloke go around without having a bit on. Our old mate, Niccanova backing up from last week and now gets up to 1600m. He loves the track, loves the distance, albeit I'd probably prefer 1400m and I think the only danger is the favourite. Backing Niccanova to get some back from last week at around $8.
Well this card of racing looks as tricky as a rubik's cube.
I've got just the two bets, they are back-to-back in Races 6 & 7.
First one, Race 6 I am going with Macroura. Second up here and strips fitter and has already been well backed. Not an absolutely certainty by any stretch of the imagination but think it'll be very hard to beat.
The other one @ Kembla is the horse that won in a tough old slog during the carnival @ Flemington, Purple Sector. Lobs up here, drawn well, well weighted and with Rachel King on board, $4.80 of thereabouts looks a nice price.
Nothing in Adelaide, they're off due to the COVID crackdown and I'll leave the Perth preview to the astute form expert, Darcy Schostakowski.
