Saturday Racing Preview

Still firmly in the fetal position after last weekend, I knew my fate quite early with my much fancied Black On Gold over-racing and putting in a really weak finish. I'll leave Chris Waller to do the training but maybe it is a case of dropping him back 2000m and hopefully they can get him to settle. Don't you think for one minute but that I won't be buttering up again, presume he's down to go around next weekend, we await with anticipation.

Fairly quiet weekend of racing ahead this week, but let's try and find a couple of winners!

Flemington

Racing at headquarters this week and it looks a very competitive card of racing. Not one favourite at time of publishing that has come up less than a $3 quote. That's King of Hastings in Race 7, Creswick Stakes. 1200m down the straight, looks a good bet despite having to lump the 60kg. Obvious danger Broadwayandfourth, it might be the one to come down the widest lane if that's the pattern of the day. In the following race, I like one for team Godolphin and Michael Rodd, Haunted. Loves the sting out of the track and with a current rating of a Soft 5 and showers predicted, I reckon that's where we might land. I think Roddy can give Haunted the plum ride in behind Rox The Castle, peel off at the 300m and land the cash. Tough card of racing but, low confidence levels.

Randwick

Equally as tough card of racing in Sydney, probably playing on a Soft/Heavy track. Again, waiting until bit later in the day to find a few winners, I am going to go with the Chris Waller and Glen Boss combination in the 7th Race of the day, Hulk. Yes, I hear you, this horse is a tease, 1 win from 14 starts, but on Saturday it gets in with just 54kgs on its back, I can't see it missing a place at the very least and I think it'll come storming home over the top, provided the track is playing fair. Fast forward to the last race and I am going to have a bit each way on last race Robbie Dolan aboard rank outsider, All But Gone. This horse is somewhat of an enigma, it'll be 20L off the leaders at the 600m and typically motors home strong. $67 in early markets, CRUNCHED into $61. It could absolutely do nothing or, it run a nice race at each-way odds. Give it strength, not the type of strength Black On Gold had last week please.

Doomben

Hear me out, I think there's some great value in Brisbane this week, but not in the first race, short-priced favourite looks very hard to beat. 1.4L off Aquitaine last start, albeit that filly was 3-deep, but this race shapes up well for Howwonderfullifeis. It'll be winning. Outside of that, some nice each-way chances are going around, I can see Magstock improving in Race 3, albeit I am concerned about the distance, $16 but, nice price. Similarly in Race 6, the Tony Gollan trained, Brains, appears to have a nice each way chance, might be a bit short for him but I think he'll run a nice race, also at good each way odds.

Best of the each way bunch for Saturday is in the last, Sharpe Hussler. Go back and watch it's run last start, I actually backed it at $41 and had it got clear earlier, it probably wins and I buy a small island somewhere in the Caribbean, not to be unfortunately. I reckon if it was over the road at Eagle Farm I'd be getting really stuck in but I'll still go pretty hard each way at around the $12 mark.

There's some winners amongst all of that, I'll be staying out early and launching late before a few beers and some NRL on Saturday night!
