I would just like to start by saying how fucking good is ‘The Wizard From the West’, Will Pike.

I can now understand why he gave up a ride in Melbourne on his favourite horse to come back and win a third consecutive Railway Stakes on Inspirational Girl.

Although it wasn’t the traditional sit back and take her wide to run over her opponents at the end, just watching her find a bee’s dick of a gap and striding home in the clear is why we love this sport was truly a magical moment.

This week we have another Group 1 race back in WA, with the Winterbottom Stakes, however, we have a full calendar around Australia with meetings at Doomben, Rosehill and Moonee Valley.

Looks like a promising weekend to find some winners!

Looking at the Group 1 race this Saturday, Race 9 @ Ascot, it’s hard to ignore the favourite here in Trekking.

We all know how phenomenal this horse is; he needs no introduction and also helping his cause is having the Wizard on board. Trekking didn’t have a great time when he was over in WA previously however this time he has Will Pike on board, he brings clearly the best form into this race and trainer James Cummings has given him a 36 day let up so he should be nice and fresh to simply outclass these horses.

If the track stays nice and firm for him to run 1200 on a good 4; I can’t see anything causing too much trouble. $2.30 is pretty sure, but I can't really see him getting out in the market until the red light turns on.

Staying in WA, Race 8 over 2100m I will be backing Royal Command.

Once again Will Pike finds himself on an odds on favourite at $3, what’s not to like about that?

This gelding has proven he can win comfortably over 1800m so I don’t think stepping up to the 2100m will be too much of a problem here. He has drawn perfectly in barrier 3 for Pikey to get cover for the entire trip, he'll be looking to peel out on the top of the straight and run over the top.

Sydney Mail

Rosehill Race 5 - JMac loves finding winners at Rosehill and I think this Saturday won’t be any different. I like Lady Banff. This filly has a very promising future ahead of her and I believe this Saturday she will show you why. Coming off a large spell she will be fresh as anything and this plays to her advantage, she's 2 from 2 first-up from a spell. Coming back to the 1100m with no weight and drawn well, she should get a perfect, $4.60 is a good price.

Rosehill Race 7 - Rainier. Now I know what you're thinking, the fucking thing ran backward last time. Yes, it did however I think it could find it best this weekend. He loves having a solid track underneath him and he will get that on Saturday. He has the form at Rosehill with 3 wins at this track, 1500m is a big tick and he draws barrier 7 which should give him all the cover he needs until he peels out on the corner. I just think if this horse is going to find his best it will be this weekend, at $8, bit of value!

Gold Coast Mail

Finally Gold Coast Race 3, Goldschlager. Now, my mate, Will Wallace could chew your ear off for 3 hours about how good this horse is and just never gets any luck, he reckons.

The sectionals this filly has run are phenomenal. Running over the 1200m this weekend, it could be the race where she finds some luck and storms home. Prices aren’t out yet but she should be winning, remember the name, GOLDSCHLAGER.

Best of luck to everyone, hopefully we're found some winners and the beers will taste a lot better!
