Well, well, well what a week to be a Queenslander! Wednesday racing was tough, but thanks to Queensland and Val Holmes we managed to snag a $20+ multi. Queensland's Summer Carnival heads north to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. A track which takes an enormous amount of meetings on a yearly basis, much deserving of more feature races!

Track rated a Good 4 with the rail in the true position for Mooloolaba Cup Day. This is probably one of the toughest meetings I can recall in Queensland for some time. While some better horses are stepping out, in almost every race there seems to be 4-5 chances!

Expect the track to play fair with all horses getting a chance. While it was hard to find some clear picks, I have found two horses at the Sunny and one quinella down the Gold Coast.

Sunshine Coast

Race 4: Number 7 (Totally Charmed)

I could only find two potential winners for this race, and the market more or less tends to agree. All Important from the Gollan yard is simply a non-winner, this bloke loves to lead and in his last three starts, he has been run down to finish an honest second. He steps back

down from the Doomben 1350m to the Sunshine Coast 1200m. I am expecting there to be a solid tempo up front and I can not see this fella getting it his own way.

Totally Charmed lines up here for his second start of this preparation. Last prep he was beaten by the likes of ‘Plenty’. Trialled up nicely behind ‘Jami Lady’ before being held up for a lot of the home straight last start, before bursting clear and winning nicely. Drops down 2.5kgs, will go back from the barrier and rely on a solid tempo. IF, a solid tempo is set, then this fella should be storming home and winning.

Strategy: Totally Charmed to win @$3.90 (PlayUp)

Race 7: Number 7 (Sugar Boom)

This again is another race with many chances. Some of these seasoned campaigners are looking like they will need this run to gain greater fitness, while others look as though they have lost the form they have shown in previous preparations.

Sugar Boom looks to be the new horse on the block. During the Winter Carnival, this mare ran some super races in better fields. She has since come back and had two easy winning trials alongside a 2.25 length win where she carried 59.5kgs. She loves the track and distance, second up looks no concern and to aid her chances she has drawn barrier 2.

Look for this girl to either lead or sit just off the leader, and should be too strong for them.

Strategy: Sugar Boom to win @$2.50 (PlayUp)

Gold Coast

Race 3: 2&4 Quinella

There are two horses here that both look to be better than this grade. They are Champagne Aunty (2) and Hams Al Lail (4). Both horses have shown ability, I would have to just lean towards Hams simply for the fitness edge it has being third up. Both horses should be winning more races, and I would be extremely surprised if these two horses do not run the top two.

Follow both horses into the near future!

Multi

Well, I guess after Wednesday's effort we may as well have another crack at landing a multi.
