Righto, who backed Prince of Arran?

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

Fair dinkum, this horse knows how to run a place.

If you backed Prince of Arran today in the Melbourne Cup, you were a bit worried on the turn when Jamie Kah ran up the backside of other horses.

When she finally got clear and balanced up, the Prince absolutely flew home for another placing in the great race.

That's the third time Prince of Arran has run in the Cup.

In 2018, he finished third to Cross Counter, beaten 3L.

In 2019, he was part of that blanket finish when Vow and Declare did it for Australia and won the Melbourne Cup. The Prince was lunging late then as well.

And now today, he gave Twilight Payment a huge start and rattled home to run a slashing third.

What a great horse, but jeez he broke our heart today.

In fact from 8 starts in Australia, Prince of Arran has not finished any further back than 4th, which was in the Caulfield Cup around a fortnight ago.

Prince of Arran is now and 8yo, he has amassed in excess of $3.5m in prize money around the world, you'd be thinking he might have one last crack at the Cup again next year?

If only he had of got clear and balanced up 100m sooner today. We might be a little richer!

Full credit to Twilight Payment and jockey Jye McNeil, he made all the running and fought on valiantly, halfway through it looked as though he was simply setting it up for something to run over the top but he just kept on kicking.

If you backed Prince of Arran, hopefully you had a bit each way, let's hope he comes back again next year.
