Remember the Hayne Plane?

I actually don't know where Jarryd Hayne is right now.

No Instagram posts for the best part of 4 months, anyone know what he is doing?

Remember back to around 2009 when Jarryd Hayne just went on the most ridiculous run and pretty much single handedly carried the Eels to the '09 Grand Final?

I was fortunate enough to be in the crowd that night, I think Wes Carr did the pre-game entertainment, remember him?

Probably not.

The Eels trailed early and put together a spirited fight back but the Storm ultimately held them off.

Parramatta was there thanks to the Hayne Plane.

He won the Dally M medal that year, no surprise. He amassed 30 votes and beat Jonathan Thurston by 3.

Get this, in Round's 19 through to 24, Hayne picked up 3 points in every match. That's right, all of them.

When voting went silent after Round 16 that year, Thurston led the count by 5 points, Hayne was in irresistible form thereafter.

To put it simply, I don't think there's ever been a time when someone has been more dominant in the game then what Jarryd was in 2009, particularly the back end of that year.

The chip kicks, the intercepts, the dominant contact, try assists, cut balls, it was all there.

He won the Dally M Medal again in 2014 and then we all know the narrative since. He tried his hand at the NFL, and to be fair, did a bloody good job in the toughest league in the world.

He's had a few off-field indiscretions that stole the headlines and it would be fair to say a fairly unsuccessful 2 years at the Titans followed by a return home to Parramatta in 2018.

At the age of 32, I am not sure where he is or what he's doing, but 214 NRL Games, 23 for NSW and 21 internationals for Fiji and Australia, it's a fair resume.

But that period through 2009, I doubt we'll see anything ever like it again, seriously.
