For those fans of Colts Rugby in Brisbane, you've got 3 grand finals to look forward to this weekend, and they're all UQ vs Brothers.
The old rivals.
In all 3 grades, UQ won through to the grand final in the first week of finals, giving themselves a week off.
Brothers on the other hand, had to do it the tough way, winning preliminary finals last week.
The second of 3 finals on the weekend is of course the Colts 2 final.
In Colts 2 this year, UQ vs Brothers reads 1-1. The ledger is all square.
Brothers, the undefeated minor premiers, but beaten fairly comprehensively by UQ in their major semi final a fortnight ago.
In that game, UQ dominated most facets of the game, particularly the contact zone and breakdown. While the Uni scrum was also far superior.
Uni boasts a very strong pack and they were sensational a fortnight ago. If they can muscle up in the engine room once again, they'll take some beating.
If the pack does their job, that'll enable flyhalf Zach Hogan to control things with his excellent kicking game, while fullback Finn Hume is a cool and experienced head at the back.
Brothers too however have an excellent pack, this is going to be one hell of a battle!
In fact the Brothers forward pack is quite violent, blokes like Condon and Thompson in particular, if they can control their aggression, they'll stick it right to UQ.
Like UQ, Brothers have an experienced old head at flyhalf, with skipper Matt Lo Grande. Moving in between Colts 1 & 2 throughout the year, Lo Grande does a great job of steering his side around the park.
UQ do have some scars against Brothers in Colts 2 deciders, losing in 2017 & 2018. The 2017 game was a try after the siren to the Brethren, ouch!
Predicting this one to have some spice in it, there will be no love lost, hopefully the referee doesn't need to go to the pocket, albeit that would make for good viewing.
Brothers need to be smart to beat this UQ side, ultimately I think it'll come down to the blokes wearing jerseys 1-8 for both sides.
Predicting a tight one and a low scorer. Something like 17-15, just not sure who wins but based on history in grand finals between these two sides, I'll lean towards Brothers.
Brothers by 2.
We'll preview the Colts 1 final tomorrow and have some insight into the Premier Grade decider on Saturday.
On a side note, if you're a Brothers supporter and you're partial to a drink, then you're weekend is sure to shave some years off your life!
