QLD Premier Rugby Preview - Premier Grade & Colts

Wowee, what about that Bond scrum!

It was that good, it earned a dedicated Inside Feed article earlier in the week. You can read that here.

Bond progress through to this week's Preliminary Final against Easts.

Easts didn’t show up in the first 25 minutes against Uni last week. A dominant UQ side running rampant to skip out to an early 20-3 lead.

Easts rallied, they fought hard, but ultimately they went down by 18 points.

UQ just look bloody hard to beat, don’t they.

So Easts Vs Bond.

In the round games, Bond beat the Tigers at home. In fact Bond beat UQ at home as well so on that math, they’ll win it all in 2020!

Perhaps not.

Expect Easts to come out with greater intensity this week, they’ll be ready to go in that first 20 minutes.

One of the interesting parts of this match up is the Easts kicking game versus a classy Bond back 3. Bond will likely want the game to break up with plenty of ball in play, whilst Easts will be confident to back their set piece.

Think Easts will get the job done here and set up a grand final showdown with the Red Heavies next week.

Easts by 12.

Now, colts rugby.

Last week we tipped Brothers to topple Uni and Bond to get through against Souths.

1 from 2.

Bond impressively kept Souths scoreless to advance through to the preliminary final this Sunday @ Ballymore.

They’ll meet Brothers who copped a fair hiding from UQ who are now clearly premiership favourites.

So it’s Brothers vs Bond.

In the round games earlier in the year, Brothers accounted for the Bullsharks fairly comprehensively, albeit Bond had their fair share of injuries that day.

Momentum is with Bond and Brothers will be picking up the pieces after last week’s indifferent effort.

If Brothers can tidy up their work at the breakdown and get quick recycle ball, then they’ll win. That’s dependent on getting the ball in the hands of your best ball carriers which was missing last week.

Bond were wasteful at times with ball in hand last week, the plus side is they created plenty of opportunities and were always in control.

Think this’ll be an absolute belter with two teams desperate to reach the GF.

Brothers by 3.
