Well, Stephen Kearney’s looking for a job. Bit harsh? Probably. There’s 4 or 5 coaches under serious pressure at the moment, I didn’t for one moment think Kearney would be the first to go. Did anyone back him in to be fired first? Paul McGregor, Dean Pay or John Morris, thought they might be fighting it out for the inglorious honour of first sacked coach of the year, maybe Anthony Seibold or Paul Green will fly like Chautauqua and make a race of it as well.
For the most part, I reckon Round 6 went to script. The Knights thumped the hapless Broncos on Thursday night and then the Rabbitohs took care of the Warriors on Friday. The second game of the Friday Night double-header saw the Panthers put together 80 minutes of footy, defeating the Storm. Penrith are improving, not sure where they get to in 2020 but two weeks in a row they’ve played some good footy, they’ll still be rueing the loss against the Eels and squandering that first half lead.
I didn’t get to see much of the Dragons & Titans game. I presume I didn’t miss much, Dragons winning and by the time I’d flicked the TV on for the second game on Saturday, the Tigers were absolutely giving it to the Cowboys. Honestly, can someone give me a market on which coach will be fired next, I’m thinking Paul Green. Maybe he will just leave off his own accord. 34-0 at half-time the Tigers led, the Cowboys won the second half by 18 points but it was like getting a participation award at school assembly, it didn’t mean anything.
Now, Roosters & Eels. That was a cracking game between the ladder leader and the team that seems right on track to complete the 3-peat this year. Dynasty, that word we’re associating with great sporting teams, that’s what they are you’d have to say. Remember as well, they didn't have Teddy for most of that match, what about that carry from Maika Sivo? Crikey.
Call an ambulance!
The Sydney Roosters but, Cronk & Mitchell gone over the past few years, doesn’t matter, they are just so dominant and this week they take on the Dragons. Has there ever been a forfeit in the NRL?
Sunday’s match between the Raiders & Sea Eagles was perhaps one of the best wins in rugby league history. 2 blokes gone in the first 5 mins for the men from Brookvale, they kept turning up in defence to repel a Raiders side that now slips out of the Top 4. Simply too good from Manly, a further injury to Tom Trbojevic couldn’t stop them either, time and time again they looked like they’d concede to the Raiders attack but the fight they put up was outstanding. Were the Raiders hard done by not to get that Jason Croker try awarded? Maybe. Wouldn’t have mattered. Well done Manly.
Apparently, the Sharks played the Bulldogs on Sunday Night, I saw one big hit in the highlights package but otherwise I was watching Big Brother, poor old Ian got voted off, that Garth is such a bitch.
