NRL's bet of the weekend

Cowboys are the best bet of the weekend in the NRL

Pretty rare you'd put a side in as the best of the weekend after not having scored a point in Round 1 of the season.

But that's what I am doing.

Last week against the Panthers it was only 8-0 for the first 55 odd minutes or so.

Then the floodgates opened a little and Penrith were seriously good.

I like the tough talk and action from Todd Payten also.

That sends a really clear message to the playing group, if the big star can be put on notice then everyone else will just fall into line.

I don't mind what Payten is doing at all.

This week they get it all to suit.

Home ground.

Near enough to full strength.

AND

They're playing the Dragons.

I will say, the Dragons weren't awful last week, not by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I don't agree with everyone out there suggesting that they'll win the spoon this year.

Funnily enough, I think Cronulla will win the spoon - they of course beat the Dragons on Sunday night.

Go figure.

Last year these two teams split the season head-to-head with 1 win each, home ground advantage seem to do the trick then.

But this week, look out for big Jason Taumalolo.

He may break a record for metres gained - the big man will be fired up. You'd hate to be the Dragons this week, the bear has been poked as they say.

He'll carry the Cowboys through the middle of the park which will allow them to score plenty of points.

This'll be a high scorer, no doubts about that, but the Cowboys will prove too strong.

Cowboys are $1.50, yeah, that's about right.

I like it.
