What about the Bunnies?! Sensational. Don't forget the Warriors, they got the job done for us as well, god bless them.
Souths Sydney's 38-0 defeat of Parramatta is big for many reasons but came at a significant cost. Latrell Mitchell set to miss the rest of the season. For the Eels, coach Brad Arthur hinted that his players might have peaked too soon in an 'ordinary' effort. We sort of saw it coming, didn't we.
That's season over for the Eels, they've done enough to be in the finals race but it appears they're running out of steam at the wrong time of the year.
It's probably a similar story for the Knights. That was a crushing loss to the Warriors. Again, like Parra, they've (probably) done enough to be playing in October but you can't help but feel they're simply making up the numbers.
We said the Titans might provide some nuisance value at the back end of the year, handing the Dragons a loss that puts an end to their 2020 season, from a finals perspective at least with a late try to Jamal Fogarty. The Titans building some momentum on the back of signing coach Justin Holbrook to a long-term deal and with a Saturday evening clash with the Dogs, they may well get a couple in a row.
The big three, the only three in my mind that can win it all in season 2020 were all impressive, admittedly against pretty weak opposition. The Roosters beat up the Broncos, the Storm welcomed back Smith & Munster and were too good for Manly, whilst the Panthers made it 11 in a row against the Tigers.
What about the Tigers? 4 losses out of their last 5 and apparent division between the playing group and head coach Michael Maguire. What happens there?
For the high flying Panthers, they effectively get the bye this week, taking on the Broncos on Thursday night. Will they rest some of their troops?
There a couple of belters in Round 17, how about the Bunnies taking on the Storm on Friday night?! Then it's the one everybody has been waiting for, the grand final re-match, the Roosters and the Raiders. This potentially could sort out who makes the Top 4, albeit they might both overtake the Eels.
The Raiders beat the Roosters at the SCG in Round 10, but the Roosters are slowly but surely getting their stars back on the field. This will be a cracking match, 7:35pm on Saturday night! Oh yeah, SBW is expected to return as well, does it get any better!?
It's down to three teams but in my mind, I think the Raiders are a level below and that may play out this Saturday night. Bring it on.
