Can we all just agree on one thing, let’s make it a rule that for as long the guy is playing rugby league, the Brisbane Broncos never let Kotoni Staggs go.
We good with that?
Staggs had a bumpy year, to put it mildly.
On Monday night, he was recognised in the Dally M Team of the Year for his terrific 2020 season.
But let’s be honest, it was a horror year for the Broncos, Staggs was without a doubt our shining light, he gave us hope.
He wasn't short on his own controversy, but how do we feel about the $600 fine handed down to the lovely young girl that released a raunchy tape of her and Staggs. Only $600? You kidding me?
He had that BS to contend with, then the poor bloke does his knee in the final round and puts himself out of origin contention.
So yeah, 2020 has been a bit of a rollercoaster for Kotoni and sadly it is unlikely we will see him until perhaps Round 13 or 14 in 2021, as he recovers from surgery.
But, with all that said, haven’t we unearthed an absolute star?
Did I mention as well that Staggs won the the Dally M Try of the Year award for his effort against the Dragons.
Moving to five-eight in the latter stages of the season to plug some holes wasn’t best for his footy, he still did a good job, but when that blokes get the ball on the edge with a bit of time and space, he is near on unstoppable.
The Broncos highlights reel for 2020, albeit short, is almost a one man show.
I really really like this bloke, he's a competitor.
He’s had some headwinds this year, no doubt he’s learnt a couple of hard lessons but if we do anything else as a club for the next 10-12 years, it should be that we keep Staggs in Brisbane.
$600 fine for that stunning young girl, seriously, what a joke.
