Get festive on a school night

Cheltenham week has thrown up disappointingly small fields and plenty of short-priced favourites leaving only one reasonable thing to do. Throw darts at a few at bigger prices.

Unfortunately for fans on the east coast of Oz tonight’s target will be going round unsociably late. I encourage you to stay up with the night owls to watch him storm home home but for those gainfully employed among you the acceptable play would be to place your bets before bed and wake up to an engorged, throbbing, uncomfortably large win payout.

Sharjah is hovering around $10 for the Champion Hurdle at 01:05AEST and that looks good value.

Beaten by Honeysuckle (favourite tonight) last time but he should be closer to the pace here and he finished strongly in this race last year. He should be in the mix and any price bigger than $10 is worth a bet.

He’s the only one for tonight but no one wants to blow their festival load too early. ‘It’s never happened before’ simply won’t cut it as an excuse this week.

Put The Kettle On contests another race for the night owls at 01:05AEST on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Chacun Pour Soi will be short-priced favourite but no one ever got rich backing odds-on shots.

The Kettle’s record at Cheltenham is three starts for three wins. She was beaten by Chacun in Ireland in her last start but track form counts for plenty at Cheltenham and is at an each-way price at $9.

Finally, Sky Pirate runs at 02:15AEST on Wednesday. The drop in trip will suit and he has track from in the book. It’s a big handicap so anything can happen, but his price is enticing at around $8.50/$9.

May the week be long and profitable. Back again on Thursday for the days three and four gravy.

Do Svidaniya.
