Here's the QLD side for Game 1

Well it's almost that time of the year.

The MCG hosts the first Origin this year, Wednesday June 9.

Here's how QLD will line up. No doubt you'll let us know who we've missed.

That said, I think there aren't too many arguments in all of this and crikey, it is a bloody strong side that'll beat the Blues again.

Here we go.

  1. Kalyn Ponga

  2. Valentine Holmes

  3. Dane Gagai

  4. Jurt Capewell

  5. Xavier Coates

  6. Cameron Munster

  7. Daly Cherry-Evans

  8. Lindsay Collins

  9. Harry Grant

  10. Josh Papalii

  11. David Fifita

  12. Felise Kaufusi

  13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui

Bench:

14. Ben Hunt

15. Christian Welch

16. Jaydn Su'A

17. Jai Arrow

Few different faces from Game 3 last year but arguably much stronger with the notable inclusions of Ponga and Fifita.

Two pretty handy players.

Who else might be around the mark?

Jarrod Wallace will be pushing for a spot, AJ Brimson will be around the mark but there's no spot for him this year you'd think and I like the game of Patrick Carrigan.

Get him in the squad, he's an origin player for many years, maybe not this year but certainly at some point.

He's in the same mould as Michael Crocker, loved that bloke.

Now, here's something I don't get.

QLD are $2.25 to win this year's series.

How?

Didn't the bookmakers learn their lesson last year. The mighty maroons will only be better again this year so long as injuries don't hit and of course we're down the master coach, Uncle Wayne.

Nonetheless, I'll be taking the $2.25 and plenty of it.

June 9 huh? 43 days or thereabouts, but who's counting!?
