Late last week our Instagram page was removed for copyright infringement.
Okay, fair enough.
We had posted a 15 second video of Super Rugby, to which the genius minds at SANZAAR objected to a copyright infringement.
Clearly we have no legal leg to stand on, it’s their footage.
But just a couple of things.
Firstly, we credited the source of the video and I don’t think any person with half a brain for any moment thought that the video in question was our intellectual property, nor did we have any intention of monetising it.
Secondly, by publishing content dedicated to rugby union, we are actively promoting the game, which in Australia, could use some support.
So what’s the big problem?
Surely promoting rugby is a good thing right?
In any event, if the good people @ Sanzaar had of just sent us a little note and asked us to remove the content, we would have thought they were dickheads for doing it, but would have happily taken it down to avoid any issues.
Anyways, lesson learnt.
All this has done is created a shitload of work for us, which we’re happy to do, that’s no problem.
But, fuck you SANZAAR.
