Early Bird Mail - 9th November 2020

In the first edition of ‘Early Bird Mail’, we will look at some early betting plays for the upcoming week. Focusing on where us punters may be able to get an early collect.

In a quick recap of Saturday's results. Desert Lord showed great ability and toughness to sit three-wide throughout and still be too good, while Emerald Kingdom had to work early to hold a positive position and on face value looked disappointing for his standards, stewards noted a ‘slower than then expected recovery from racing’.

But that’s racing and we move on to this week.

Townsville (Tuesday), Race 2: Number 1 Aroha Te Mana

Markets are yet to be put up but I believe this old fella should be too good. Was slow to jump last start carrying the top weight and sat outside the leader narrowly going down. Soldiers lines up here looking to go one better then Aroha, and although last start when they met he sat three-wide for the majority he did look to receive every chance. No change in the weight for either horse, Aroha has Marnu Potgieter claiming 3kgs.

Drawn nicely in barrier 4 expect this fella to most likely lead and set his own pace, with Soldiers the only danger having to go back from the outside barrier. On paper there looks to be no other dangers. If Aroha can set the tempo and control upfront he should be too good. Happy to back Aroha, but safely box Aroha Te Mana and Soldiers in a quinella.

State of Origin, Game 2: Queensland $3.50

We are all well aware of the result last week. Queensland unexpectedly winning 18-14. I must admit I believe the first 40 minutes was extremely disappointing from both teams. Mistakes that simply should not happen on the big stage. Game 2 lands in Sydney, with a lot of pressure on Fitler's men.

I still think the bookies have it wrong. Queensland to win the series have to do one thing. Play simple footy. The Blues will try and overcomplicate this game, all Queensland have to focus on are the little things.

Complete well, don’t miss tackles, kick deep to the corners and discipline. I believe if Queensland does the above the shield will return north. Currently @ $3.50, Queensland is definitely worth a bet. For what it is worth, lock Queensland to win into Holmes anytime try scorer.

New Zealand to win the Tri Nations - $1.20

The Suncorp curse once again claimed the All Blacks on Saturday night. Death, taxes and the All Blacks never losing twice in a row. The three certainties in life.

This weekend they come up against Argentina, I am holding grave fears for the Pumas. Take the All Blacks at a line of (-50), I think this will be a horror watch for Argentina fans.

Two weeks into the Tri-Nations of 2020 and New Zealand are already 2 points ahead on the table. Simply can not see them being caught, while only $1.20, add them to every multi you have.

Well I hope we have found a couple of early winning bets to look forward to this week! Tips to also be released for this Wednesday's Ipswich and Doomben's Saturday meeting.

Happy punting, and as always please gamble responsibly.
