Last week hurt! I couldn’t find much I liked so I trekked down the M1 in order to watch my filly start a $2.50 favourite after opening at around the $5 mark. The bookies won that battle, after she settled third last on the rail and I believe she is still trying to find a gap. Ah well she heads around either next Wednesday or Friday.
Enough sooking..Doomben, track rated a Good 4 rail out 1m the entire. So expect the track to play its usual fair self.
There are four horses going around today I like, and of the four, there are three that are not the most consistent. But all three are arguably in career best form. As a result I believe the bookies are offering generous enough prices for these runners, and I think at least three of the four will be winning.
Race 3: Benchmark 85 (1600m)
Tokoriki Lad lines up here for the Gollan stable. Third up and rock hard fit, awesome first two runs thos prep beaten by Desert Lord then a super effort a fortnight a go at the Sunshine Coast. Track and Distance 1/1, in career best form. Will need some luck, but I am expecting this fella to settle just worse then midfield and should be too good storming down the outside.
Betting Play: Tokoriki Lad to win @ $2.60
Race 4: Country Cup Final (1600m)
I must admit it was extremely difficult doing form for these country races, as their form lines are coming from every part of the state. But it is awesome to see the country folk having a crack for a $105,000 race. It is simply impossible to go past Paniagua.
This bloke is chasing his eighth straight win! Which included a Townsville Guineas and a Cairns Cup. 2/2 over the mile, barrier four and Robert Thompson booked for the one and only ride. Anything can win these country races, but gee I can’t see how they beat this bloke.
Betting Play: Paniagua to win @ $2.10
Race 6: Quality Handicap (2000m)
The Chris Waller team will saddle up the inform So You Win. Two back this bloke won a similar race nicely carrying an extra 1.5kgs. Then last start he was even more impressive just going down to the promising Ballistic Boy. Barrier 2 only helps his chances, if he can get some off the fence and travel nicely, he should only be winning again!
Betting Play: So You Win to win @ $2.50
Race 8: George Moore Stakes (1200m)
I can’t understand how this horse is not $1.80… Jonker crossed from barrier 14 and led like it was nothing, oh yeah and broke the track record which had stood for a very long time… Barrier four, similar field some speed drawn on his inside and The Odyssey has drawn his immediate outside. May not need to lead but will comfortably sit in the first four. This bloke is back, connections have been patient and deserve to see the best of this bloke. He should be too good for them again.
Betting Play: Jonker to win @ $2.45
Dusty Tycoon has blinkers on for the first time in the last, interested to see how she goes with them on. Tough race, but she has drawn a treat, can’t see her missing the top 3. Race 9 Number 2, each way at around $8 and $2.20.
Happy punting legends, all the best!
