BREAKING: NBA players get paid way too f#cken much

Updated: Dec 25, 2020

Trading season is well and truly on in the NBA.

In fact there's been more trades made in the NBA in the last fortnight than on Wall Street.

There's a couple of teams that have done very well and others, that perhaps have not.

The Lakers have added some wonderful pieces to their roster including Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, Marc Gasol and Wesley Matthews.

Whilst they have lost Danny Green, Quinn Cook, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and JaVale McGee.

Bradley in particular who didn't play in the NBA bubble is a big loss, he's heading to Miami.

The other big winners might be Portland, they re-signed Carmelo Anthony and Rodney Hood, and also added Robert Covington and Enes Kanter via trades. They've done well!

But I digress, what the crazy NBA trade period has highlighted is the ridiculous salaries of some these blokes.

Gordon Hayward, yes we all know what happened, MJ has signed Hayward to a 4-year deal worth $120m in Charlotte. Yikes!

Hayward averaged 17.5 points per game last season and yes admittedly, he did share the floor with Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown.

He also averaged 6.7 rebounds per game, meaning the Hornets might have signed a guy that'll give them maybe at best 20-7-5 each night. Is that worth $30m per season?

The other one that stunned me a little was Stephen Adams. Now don't get me wrong, I love the way he plays, he got traded to New Orleans and immediately signed an extension for 2 years worth $35m per year which is fully guaranteed.

$17.5m a year for Stephen Adams?

Again, I love the guy but fuck me. That is ridiculous money.

There's others, how about Russell Westbrook having 4 years left on his deal worth $171m, or Tim Hardaway Jr who is earning $18.5m per season and has 2 years left on his deal.

But this one will get you, the Charlotte Hornets, yes those masterminds that did the Hayward trade are paying Nicolas Batum $26m a year and he's got another 2 years left on that deal.

I'll just let that sink in.

What are the Hornets thinking? Fair dinkum.

Who did we miss, who else is earning stupid money?
