Cold beer, cricket, prawns and fresh bread, some NBA and the racing.
Ahhh, not bad.
This is an important day to get right, couple of winners last week, we're building to a big fat day - hopefully!
Starting things off in Melbourne with the traditional races @ Caulfield. Should be on a good track and some nice bets to get amongst.
Race 3, Ayrton. What an impressive debut, 5L winner and some very smart late sectionals. Bit of a tricky draw here but Jamie Kah will go forward and maybe look for the position outside the leader. $1.90 or thereabouts is short, might wait for game day but hard not to be impressed with the debut win.
Race 5, going back to the well with one we liked about a month ago, Score. Nash Rawiller will ride from a good draw and the drop back in distance good track will suit. Looked the winner last time out and knocked up. Good each way value here around $6.
Best bet of the day anywhere comes up in Race 6 @ Caulfield, you can read about that here.
Tough old day in Sydney.
Best in Sydney probably comes up in Race 5. Another one we've backed before, Bigboyroy. No weight and they've got Frosty Rocks who was super disappointing last start up there as the favourite. Don't understand that.
The concern is the tricky barrier for Bigboyroy, Jay Ford will need to come across from gate 10 but I think he'll be able to do that without too much trouble and find a spot, ideally just in behind the leaders. $3.80 looks a nice price.
The only other one in Sydney will be in the very next race, the Summer Cup. Best of Days returned to form last start and I like the step up in distance. Think Bowman will try and push forward here and sit on the back of Greysful Glamour. $9 for this horse is a great price, keen here on a big run each way.
Brisbane racing is @ Eagle Farm, we'll be on a good track.
First race of the day, I've got to back Seentoomany each way around the $9 mark. Hasn't been a preparation filled with much luck and might just be the forgotten horse here. $9 is big overs.
Race 4, we'll back the Chris Waller Sydney raider - Shaquero. Won on debut and has since trialled well and will likely find the lead from the inside draw and be very hard to run down.
Bookmakers may take this bloke on, so I will be waiting to back him as I reckon Baby Wong might get some support.
Leaving the last bet of the day until Race 9 @ Eagle Farm. Just have to be on Baller here, we've been waiting for this bloke to get across to Eagle Farm and whilst we get that, he draws barrier 10 - can't take a trick!
I'll be with him but to get the chocolates, $4.40 looks unders but, I'll be waiting for closer to the race, reckon we might get a bit better.
Enjoy your Boxing Day racing and as always, gamble responsibly.
