The sad part to all this is that Joe Burns had been dropped about 2 days ago - he didn't even get to finish the test.
That's curtains for his test career - he'll never get back in.
23 tests with an average of 36.97. I think that's the updated stat line.
Not a bad return for Burnsy but he may as well frame his baggy green, at the age of 31 - his test career is effectively over.
He should pivot to become a T20 specialist and cash in while he's still got some run in his legs.
David Warner will be back.
Will Pucovski will come in.
Travis Head will be goneski and Matthew Wade will drop to number 5.
Cameron Green will retain his spot so long as the Aussies don't play another spinner. But it appears as though the Sydney test is off and they'll be back on again in Melbourne - that looks the best option.
If they happen to be in Sydney, on a nice turning deck, Mitchell Swepson might get a chance, but based on the way the Aussies are batting of late, you probably don't want to be going in with only 5 specialist batsman and without an all-rounder.
I feel for Burns but he's horribly out of touch, he's gone.
Travis Head just doesn't look threatening, maybe he can find some form in the BBL and then the ODI's - but just don't think he's quite got the consistency in his technique to be a real force in test cricket.
He hasn't been poor, he's averaging just shy of 40 so perhaps we're being a bit harsh but I think he'll be out as well.
And what about Smithy? What's doing.
10 runs in 4 innings, he looks tired! He hasn't seen his wife for something like 5 months apparently - that would take its toll - in more ways than one.
India were missing Kohli, we were missing Davey Warner and they absolutely gave us a touch up - the next test - wherever it is - will be an absolute belter.
That leaves the Australian line up at Pucovski, Warner, Labuschagne, Smith, Wade, Green, Paine, Cummins, Starc, Lyon & Hazlewood.
I think that's what everyone's picking, there's no breaking news here.
