A few bets for Oaks Day

Updated: Nov 5, 2020

Melbourne Cup Day wasn't too bad to us, if Prince of Arran had of got clear a little earlier than it would have been a wonderful evening!

So if you've got a few dollars left over after all the celebrations, here's a few bets to get you through on Oaks Day.

Flemington

Race 1 - November Dreaming ($2.50)

Hit with a big weight here but could not have been more impressive first up. Craig Williams sticks and in a BM70, she looks very hard to beat with average luck. Surely this gets the day off to a good start!

Race 5 - Star Missile ($8)

Going with Craig Williams again, I don't mind the bloke. First up here and has jumped out well in preparation for this, looks like Greg Eurell has targeted this race and the 1st up record reads pretty well. Just a little each way bet here.

Race 8 - Montefilia ($1.85) to beat Miravalle ($6.50)

Going with the proven form of Montefilia in the Oaks, I'll be backing it straight out and I was impressed with the run of Miravalle last start, backing it in the quinella with the favourite. Always love watching the Oaks, this year it looks a fairly straight forward betting proposition. Hopefully not a case of 'famous last words'...

Race 9 - Written Beauty ($2.05)

I think everyone in the world we'll be on this, particularly if they're chasing. This looks like a good horse and drawn wide with W Pike on just absolutely looks like a great recipe. Expect this to jump odds on, I'll be going hard.

I'll be having a few bets @ Ipswich as well tomorrow. Race 2, Seles ($3) for Chris Waller in a small field and in the last, Race 7 - in what is a really good sprint race - I'll be backing Peppi La Few ($3.70) first up from a spell for the Edmonds team and Robbie Fradd.

Enjoy Oaks Day!

Good luck, good punting & gamble responsibly!
