Dustin Johnson is in ridiculous form.
Around a month ago, DJ teed it up at TPC Harding Park for the first major of the year. Collin Morikawa pulled out a stunning finish to win it all, while DJ finished T-2. A tie for second netted Johnson just shy of $1m.
Two weeks later, DJ played the Northern Trust Open and turned in a ridiculous 30 under par, beating second placed Harris English by a meagre 11 strokes.
Put simply, when DJ puts it down the middle off the tee, not many can match it with him. He seems to play at a reasonably frantic pace, doesn't take too long over his shots, until he has his putter in hand. His proximity to the hole, on the back of the precision of his iron play has been nothing short of outstanding.
For his victory at the Northern Trust, DJ took home a cool $1.71m.
A week later, it was the BMW Championship, well we all know what happened there. DJ hitting a 43 foot birdie putt to tie Jon Rahm on the last, only to be beaten in the playoff. Rahm, hitting an absolute bomb from down town. Another second place and another cheque worth $1.03m
DJ entered East Lake with a 2 shot lead as per the Tour Championships starting positions. Whilst challenged at times by Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and his sparring partner from the week earlier, Jon Rahm, you always got the feeling DJ was in full control.
Keeping his cool, he finished 21 under to register a 3 shot win and banked the winner's cheque of $15m.
So let's take stock, since the start of the PGA Championship which teed off on August 6, Dustin Johnson has earned somewhere in the vicinity of $18.7m. Unbelievable.
He'll roll into Winged Foot in a weeks' time for the US Open the clear favourite, how does anyone possibly beat him when he's hitting it like this?
Have to say, I am pretty jealous of this guy right now. DJ is engaged to a woman by the name of Paulina Gretzky, the daughter of ice hockey great, Wayne Gretzky. That's her, pictured above.
Dustin Johnson, what an arsehole.
